About Jökulsárlón:

Jökulsárlón is Iceland’s “Jewel” Glacier Lagoon, located in Southeast Iceland. This stunning lagoon is characterized by the movement of large floating glacier ice in an array of shapes and vibrant blue colors. The ancient ice (blue ice is the oldest ice in the world) is “calved” from Vatnajökull Glacier (translates in English to “Water Glacier“) that then floats along the lagoon on the way out to sea.

Measurements:

• 2 1/8” from top of ring to bottom of mineral x 1 3/8 at widest.

• Cord length: 18 1/2” from top of ring to knot. May be shortened by retying know at back to desired length, and snipping off excess cord.

The Process:

I begin by setting a copper ring directly onto the rough surface of the mineral, and sculpting over it. This process takes 3-4 days, during which I slowly and meticulously add layers, working with the mineral’s natural contours, using my signature SIGIL method. Each layer hardens overnight. I finish the piece, add a complementary cord. What results is a raw look pendant that stacks very well when worn with shorter pendants, or a perfect statement piece, when worn alone.
